Serverlys
SiteGround alternative

A SiteGround alternative with no year to prepay

The best SiteGround alternative depends on how you pay. Prepay a year and SiteGround starts lower. Pay month to month and keep the renewal down, and Serverlys starts at $5.01 first month (Black Friday, until Dec 7), renews at $7.95/mo, and moves your site free.

Year one and year two are different comparisons

SiteGround prints both numbers plainly: StartUp is $2.99/mo for a prepaid first year, then $17.99/mo. That is a fair way to sell hosting, and in year one it is cheaper than ours.

Our $7.95/mo is what a single month costs, with no year to prepay, and it renews at $7.95/mo. From the second year our entry plan costs less each month than theirs, and the same holds on every tier: compare $7.95 / $11.95 / $17.95 / $23.95 with $17.99 / $29.99 / $44.99.

Domains follow the same pattern. SiteGround’s .com is free or $11.99 in year one and $22.99 after. A Serverlys .com costs $14.95 in year one and $14.95 in every year after, so there is no jump to plan for.

When SiteGround is the better choice

A comparison that never loses is advertising. These are the cases where we would point you to them.

  • You are happy to prepay a year

On 26 October 2026 SiteGround's StartUp plan was $2.99/mo, prepaid for 12 months. For that first year it costs less than our Starter at $7.95/mo, and we will not pretend otherwise.

  • You want email included in the hosting

Every SiteGround web hosting plan includes unlimited email accounts at your domain. Our business email is its own plan, so if mailboxes bundled into hosting matter most, theirs is the simpler bill.

  • You want a free first-year domain

SiteGround adds a .com, .org or .net free for the first year with a hosting plan. Ours is charged from year one, at the same price as every renewal.

  • You want staging and on-demand backups

GrowBig and GoGeek list a staging copy of your site and on-demand backups, alongside the daily ones. If you test every change on a copy first, that is built in.

  • You want to phone someone

SiteGround publishes a phone number next to its 24/7 live chat. Our support is 24/7 too, but if a phone line is the deciding factor, theirs is on the page.

Where Serverlys is different

Hosting is half of it. The other half is the work around the site that we will do for you.

The advertised price is a monthly rate with the renewal rate beside it. No year to prepay to get it.

How to move from SiteGround

You choose a plan, send the details and approve the switch. We do the moving.

  1. 1

Pick a plan by monthly rate and renewal rate

Compare the plans and renewal rates and choose the tier that fits your traffic. Most single sites start on cloud hosting or WordPress hosting.

  2. 2

    Request the free migration

Send us your site address and access details through the migration request. You do not need to export anything from your SiteGround account first.

  3. 3

Check the staged copy, then approve the DNS switch

We copy your files and database to a staging address. When you are happy, we point the domain at Serverlys. Your SiteGround site keeps serving until the change has spread, so there is no gap.

  4. 4

Move the email and the domain, if you want to

If your mailboxes live on SiteGround hosting, set up business email before you cancel. To bring the domain too, unlock it, get its authorisation code and start a domain transfer. A .com transfer costs $14.95 and adds a year; ICANN rules block transfers within 60 days of a registration or a previous transfer.

  5. 5

    Cancel SiteGround last

Once the site, email and SSL are confirmed on Serverlys, cancel the old plan. If you are still inside SiteGround’s 30-day money-back window, check its terms first.

Before you buy

The things people actually ask us, answered plainly.

  • What is the best SiteGround alternative?

It depends on how you want to pay. If you will prepay a year and want email bundled into hosting, SiteGround's first-year price is hard to beat. If you want to pay month to month, keep a lower renewal rate and have the migration done for you, Serverlys starts at $5.01 first month (Black Friday, until Dec 7) and renews at $7.95/mo.

  • How much does SiteGround cost after the first year?

SiteGround prints it on each card. On 26 October 2026 StartUp was $2.99/mo prepaid for 12 months and renewed at $17.99/mo; GrowBig renewed at $29.99/mo and GoGeek at $44.99/mo. Our Starter renews at the same $7.95/mo it costs every month, shown before checkout.

  • Is a .com cheaper at SiteGround or at Serverlys?

In the first year, SiteGround: $11.99, or free with a hosting plan. From the second year a SiteGround .com is $22.99 a year, as its domain page states that discounts apply to the first invoice only. A Serverlys .com is $14.95 to register and $14.95 every year after.

  • Does Serverlys require a prepaid term?

No. The advertised price is a plain monthly rate. Starter is $5.01 first month (Black Friday, until Dec 7), then $7.95/mo with a one-off $1.86 setup fee, so the first invoice is $6.87, and the renewal rate is shown beside it on every plan.

  • Can I move my WordPress site from SiteGround to Serverlys?

Yes. Site migration is free on every plan and we do it for you: staged first, checked by you, DNS switched only when you approve, with the SiteGround site online until then. Email and the domain are separate moves, and you can leave the domain where it is if you prefer.

  • Is SiteGround a bad host?

No. SiteGround runs on Google Cloud, includes free daily backups, unlimited email accounts and free migration, and offers 24/7 chat and phone support. We differ on how we bill, on what renewal costs and on how much we do for you, not on whether they are legitimate. Choose on the terms that suit you.

A plan that still makes sense in year two

Free migration, free SSL and daily backups on every plan, with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
